Raising Awareness Together

February is National Heart Month and the time to raise awareness of heart disease and its impact. Heart disease can occur at any age, and children are especially vulnerable when they are affected. Team CCF is shining a spotlight on pediatric cardiomyopathy and urging everyone to learn more, get involved, and take action.

Wear Red

Encourage your friends and family to wear red on National Wear Red Day this February 7. Order CCF red t-shirts and red curebands to get in the spirit.

Share the Facts

Spread the word about Heart Month and educate others about pediatric cardiomyopathy. Download CCF's fact sheet and check our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages for information to share. Add the hashtag #CCFHeartMonth when posting on social media.

Plan a Bake for a Cure Event

Commemorate Heart Month by hosting a bake sale in your community. A Bake for a Cure event is a creative way to involve friends and family in raising awareness of pediatric cardiomyopathy. To start planning, visit CCF's Bake for a Cure page and order a bake sale starter kit. CCF will assist with ideas and materials.

Send a Valentine

Spread awareness of cardiomyopathy by sending CCF valentine cards to friends, colleagues, teachers, and classmates. They can also be attached to the treats you hand out at school and work.

Reach Out to the Community

Share your knowledge of pediatric cardiomyopathy by speaking to scouting organizations, clubs (women's league, alumni, sports), community groups (Lions or Kiwanis Clubs), or giving a presentation at your local library and school. Review CCF's presentation guidelines, and download CCF's media guidebook for tips on contacting local media.

Host a Facebook Fundraiser

Highlight Heart Month by changing your Facebook and Twitter banner, sharing your awareness photos on Instagram, and setting up a Facebook fundraiser. Raising funds for research is as easy as clicking "Fundraisers" on the left of your News Feed page and selecting the "Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation."

Contact Your Legislator

Call or email your elected officials to let them know that you care about pediatric cardiomyopathy. Ask them to support cardiomyopathy-related legislation and increased research spending on pediatric cardiomyopathy. Locate your representative and contact CCF for assistance in drafting your letter.
