MEDICAL OUTREACH

The Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF) is committed to advancing knowledge in the medical and health care community and stimulating innovative and collaborative research on pediatric cardiomyopathy. CCF also works with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to advocate for working group meetings, such as "Cardiomyopathies in Children with Rare Diseases" and "Treatment of Obstruction in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy."

Quarterly Updates

During the year, CCF is represented at international medical conferences, such as the American Heart Association Scientific Session, American College of Cardiology Scientific Session and the American Academy of Pediatrics Conference, where CCF-funded research findings are presented by CCF's medical advisors, research grant recipients, and/or Pediatric Cardiomyopathy Registry investigators. These updates are featured in CCF's newsletter Heart to Heart.

New research programs and family support services are promoted on a quarterly basis to cardiologists, geneticists, researchers, and nurses, as well as social workers, genetic counselors, and child life specialists.

Hosted Conferences

The Foundation organizes a family conference every 2 years and an international scientific conference every 3 years. CCF's Living with Cardiomyopathy Family Conference offers attendees the opportunity to hear from medical experts in their area and connect with other cardiomyopathy families. For more information, visit our Family Conference page.

The scientific conference brings together a multidisciplinary group of scientists and physicians to identify gaps in knowledge, determine research direction, and evaluate new approaches and technologies that may improve intervention and prevention. Conference proceedings have been published in the international peer-reviewed journal, Progress in Pediatric Cardiology.

The 5th International Conference on Cardiomyopathy in Children will be held virtually on March 5-6, 2021. For more information, visit our Scientific Conference page.

Conference Sponsorships

CCF regularly sponsors medical symposiums and family conferences on pediatric cardiomyopathy and pediatric heart failure hosted by professional societies, associations, and medical centers. In the past, CCF has supported meetings organized by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Heart Association, Pediatric Cardiology Society, Sarcomeric Human Cardiomyopathy (SHaRe) Registry, and Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses to name a few.

The Foundation also distributes materials to national and regional medical meetings in the area of pediatrics, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, heart transplantation, and sudden cardiac arrest.
