Cardiomyopathy is a complex and variable disease in children with only a quarter of those diagnosed having a known cause. Like other chronic illnesses, pediatric cardiomyopathy requires a team approach to provide comprehensive care. CCF is committed to improving the health outcomes and quality of life for children with cardiomyopathy, and encourages affected families to seek the best specialized medical care in their area. Center accreditation assures specialized cardiac care and assists families in selecting a treatment provider that is highly skilled and experienced in treating all forms of pediatric cardiomyopathy.
The accreditation program is open to medical centers treating children who are at-risk or are diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Centers must meet specific requirements that indicate they can provide expert care and specialized disease management. To download center requirements, here.
Center accreditation is based on hospital data reported by centers and cross referenced against CCF’s center requirements. Centers meeting CCF’s criteria will be designated as a CCF-accredited center of care for two years. In general, accredited centers manage a high volume of pediatric cardiomyopathy patients, offer a variety of pediatric patient services, specialize in the treatment and management of cardiomyopathy in children, and are affiliated with an academic institution with a research focus
To be considered, centers may update their existing center data on file if submitted to CCF within the past two years, or centers may complete a new application. To download a CCF-Accredited Center of Care form, click here.
This year's deadline for submission is July 12, 2019. During Children’s Cardiomyopathy Awareness Month every September, CCF will announce new accredited centers of care and post on CCF’s website.
A listing of CCF-Accredited Centers of Care will be made available to registered families on CCF Connect, CCF’s private online community. A CCF-accredited center of care seal and promotional materials will be provided to accredited centers to promote on their website, social media, press release, and other marketing materials.
